The University of South Carolina, Columbia, is pleased to host the 57th annual meeting of the Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies.  The Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (SEC/AAS) is a non-political, non-profit scholarly organization dedicated to promoting the study of Asia in the southeastern region of the United States. To that end, SEC/AAS has held an annual three-day conference featuring scholarly panels and teacher workshops since 1962.

The SEC/AAS meeting is a vibrant gathering of a wide range of scholars, from graduate students to senior professors and independent scholars, who present on a wide range of topics related to the study of Asia, including but not limited to literary and cultural studies, history, politics, anthropology, the arts, economy, sociology.  Participants in the SEC/AAS annual meeting have the opportunity to share their work with an engaged group of colleagues and start conversations that continue long after the meeting is over.

The 2018 meeting of the SEC/AAS will be held in Columbia, South Carolina during the weekend of January 12-14, 2018. We welcome individual papers and panel presentations.
